Atlanta, GA--Aug. 19, 1999--EncounterPRO, JMJ's award-winning computer-based patient record (CPR) and workflow system software for physicians' offices, has been named a finalist for the second year in a row in the annual Industry Solution Awards (ISA) for Healthcare competition sponsored by Microsoft Healthcare Users Group MS-HUG). JMJ Technologies has developed an outstanding solution for ambulatory care that exemplifies simplicity and ease of use for physicians' offices," said Richard Noffsinger, worldwide group industry manager at Microsoft. "The application utilizes touchscreens or pen computers and a client-server platform embracing Microsoft BackOffice, SQL Server 7.0, and ActiveX for Healthcare." Jim Copenhaver, JMJ CEO, credits EncounterPRO's award to its unique Navigational Interface and workflow system. According to Copenhaver, the easily configurable interface enables physicians and their staff to go online with the product after four hours or less of training. "Physicians can then typically chart most patients--completely and comprehensively--in less than one minute," said Copenhaver. In addition, EncounterPRO has an advanced workflow system that sends patient information instantaneously to office workgroups. ISA finalists were selected from approximately 96 independent software vendors offering software solutions based on Microsoft technologies. Winners of each of the nine categories will be announced at a special awards presentation at MS-HUG's Fifth Annual Conference and Exhibition on Sept. 14 in San Diego, CA. JMJ was also selected to present a session during the conference, entitled "Workflow in the Physician's Office--a CPR Strategy to Improve ROI." Speakers will be Charles Webster, MD, JMJ's Vice President of Medical Informatics, and Norcross, GA pediatrician, Jeffrey Cooper, MD. Dr. Cooper beta-tested EncounterPRO for fourteen months in his solo practice, beginning in December 1995. In 1998 he grossed more than $1.2 million and was featured in a 1999 article in Medical Economics. Charting in his office has been paperless for over 33 months. "We are unique to the industry in that all of our offices are paperless," said Copenhaver. "Besides serving pediatrics, the core product is also configured to the other primary care specialties. Physicians can use EncounterPRO either as a stand-alone system or integrated it with a billing/scheduling application." Founded in 1994, JMJ is a privately-held company located in Marietta, GA.
